
Shri A.K Ganju, Member (D&R), CWC & Ex-officio Additional Secretary to the Government of India was born on 25th July, 1952. He did B.Sc. (Civil Engineering) from Delhi College of Engineering and M.Tech, in Water Resources Engineering , from I.I.T. , Delhi . He has also done post Graduate Diploma in Hydraulic Engineering from I.H.E., Delft , Netherlands. Shri Ganju joined the Central Water Engineering Service in CWC in October, 1975 as Assistant Director and has held various positions in this Department and other organizations under the Ministry of Water Resources and Ministry of Power. In his 36 years of distinguished service encompassing all aspects of water resources sector, Shri Ganju has made significant contributions in the field of design and consultancy for various Water Resources & Thermal Projects, safety aspects of dams across the country , development, management and execution of multi - purpose irrigation projects, Flood Management Schemes within the country and abroad. He was actively involved in the design and execution of Naptha Jhakri H.E Project, Naraj Barrage Project, Badarpur, Bongaigaon, Vijaywada and Anpara Thermal Projects, flood management schemes in the Ganga and the Brahmaputra Basins, execution of Micro Hydel Schemes in Sikkim, etc.
As Member (D&R), CWC, Shri Ganju, represented Government of India in various national and international committees / Work-bodies. He is the Chairman of the Indian National Committee on Hydrology (INCH), National Committee on Seismic Design Parameters of River Valley Projects (NCSDP), the Indian National Committee on Geotechnical Engineering and Construction Materials (INCGECM), Sectional Committee of BIS, WRD-15 and ISO-TC-113. He is the Vice President of Central Board of Irrigation & Power (CBIP).
Shri Ganju was honoured in 2009 by the institute of Engineers (India) in recognition of the eminence and contribution to the profession of Civil Engineering and also honoured with the distinguished Alumni Award by the Alumni Association Delhi College of Engineering in 2011.
Shri Ganju has travelled to several countries including U.S.A., U.K., Netherlands, China, Malaysia, France, Belgium, Austria, Nepal and Bhutan for Official work, study tours and as a member of Indian delegations.
